Before I can really answer I would like to know how old the dog is and what kind of training has he had? Was he fetching perfect before or did he have some hiccups before, like dropping the dummy or not bringing all the way back?
With mine I've had to continuously change her reward system. I change the type of kibble I'll keep in my pocket for when she brings the bird back. They get bored...
