Anyone found one that runs clean enough for certified welding without shielding gas? We have tried several from our suppliers over the years and never found one that would consistently weld right...kept getting random pinholes...

It's been over 25 yrs since I used flux core without the gas, so I couldn't tell ya what the wire was. I do know, flux core with gas ran much better for me than without.
I know what ya mean about the pinholes. It may mean just a fine tune on heat or wire speed or even the cleanness of the parts.
Maybe a call to a rep might help.

There are several weld procedures for FC...but it still a trashy weld...you could try to run a small amount of tri-gas....but I'm thinking thats what you are trying to get away from....gases are high dolla!Last edited by Traildust; 08-26-2013, 12:17 PM.
