Got in my first accident today in Corpus on Crosstown expressway. Volvo rear ended me in stop and go traffic. Just wondering, from people with experience, if I did everything right. I got a police report, took photos of damage to her car and the (minimal) damage to my truck. Everyone was ok, she hit me at a slow(ish) rate of speed. She had to get towed. I took pics of her insurance and lisence plate. I got the police report number. What happens now? I will call my insurance Monday and figure it out but thought some help from here would be some help. And again, I thank God that my wife and child and the other driver were safe.

I would call insurance as soon as possible. You did everything you should have. That is the exact reason I leave my ball on all the time.
I grew up in Corpus and I can't count the number of times that ball saved me from someone. Those people in Corpus are some non driving fools. Sorry Poco! You know what I am talking about!

You insurance will recoup anything needed from her insurance.

Call her insurance carrier first, especially since your truck appears driveable. No need for yours to get involved unless hers will not take care of it. Your carrier's underwriting department can rate for the experience (may affect your premiums) for any collision activity they have knowlege of, even if it wasn't your fault.

Wow consider yourself lucky the other drive had insurance! I'd go buy a lotto ticket. Only about 1 in 4 drivers in corpus have insurance and a drivers license.... Ive been hit 2X by unlicensed uninsured motorists, and had one accident where I rear-ended a person with no insurance and no license, and been sued. I'm not looking forward to my 4th accident, but it would be nice if the 1/4 odds came true.
Call your insurance company and let them handle everything (that's what you pay them for)
Glad no one was hurt.
