Drive by on my high fence

I'm working in Canada this week.
My wife called last night. Some fellow drove up along the fence jumped out of his truck and shot at something inside my pasture with a handgun. Jumped back in his truck and went taring off.

She could not even tell what color the truck was as it was about 10:30 at night.

We won't know until I get home what he shot. Most likely a big Axis as they tend to hang out around a water trough there at night.

I can't understand why they would shoot one. They can't get into the fence to recover it. I felt bad for my wife as she was afraid to confront them because they had a gun.
Maybe I will luck out and they will want to do it again this weekend when I'm home

The nerve of some people. I have hunted next to hf places owned by some real jerks, some that have even shot up feeders on my side from their side. Even at that, I would never even think about killing or wounding one of their animals. What good can possibly come from it?
