Pleaded or pled?

Do you say;
1. She pled guilty.
2. She pleaded guilty.
I say pled. I think pleaded sounds stupid!!
What say you?

Pleaded. Plead is the root word.
Plead is a verb and plea is a noun. One can be pleading guilty but not plea-ing guilty.

You are using it in the present tense. It is past tense.

Both are acceptable. Pled is more common.

Pleaded is the correct version for past tense.

In the legal context, pleaded is the correct term. But it sounds weird!

She pled guilty. She pleaded for a lenient sentence.
That is how I would use those words.
