    Educate me on PayPal.

I finally succumb to getting a PayPal after two years of seeing everyone have one or everyone asking me if I had one.

Now how in the world does this work? Lol

I looked and it says just type in an email address or mobile phone and say how much and hit send button? Is that really simple?

I have read on here some about paying it as a gift and some shouldn't if nobody knows this person, to not pay as gift?

Will PayPal take out interest or percentage of what was sent to make themselves a money or what?

Sorry for such doofus question! I apologize in an advance! Lol

When you send someone money, and it's not a gift, like as an payment, it's just like any other cc transaction. Charges you a low percentage. That's why everyone says do it as a gift so you don't get charged

But, if its a gift, and you get screwed, you can't get your money back. The other way around you can file a claim with PayPal saying you got ripped off and they will give you money back

3% charges when you recv $$$$

          i.e. sell a bow for $100 , you clear $97 ... PP keeps $3

Did you tie into your bank account yet? Go through the confirmation process so you will have a "confirmed paypal address". Just looks better.

I've done thousands of transactions without a problem.

If you want to try out your new account....I'll be your guinea pig!

Hahaha. Nice!!! Ok. Will do that and its for a good cause! I need a new TCHA sticker anyway!

I haven't tied to my bank account...I guess I will go back there and look at the process of doing that.

Many thanks to everyone. Oh by the way, how do I put money into my PP account?

I do it by selling junk on eBay. I think if you give them your credit card info they will simply deduct it from you that way. I'm not positive about that since anything I pay for has always come from what I have in my account through sales.

Ok. I guess my bank is now linked but need to confirm in 2-3 days and go back into PP and put down the exact amount they deposited into my account to verify its my bank account. I even registered for mobile as well. Looks like smooth sailing so far.

I used to try have one several years ago and it was PITA and lots of hoops to jump through then they blocked me, because it was not right amount even though I put down the right amount. I guess time have changed. Lol

Do you put down your SSN on there?

We have been very concern about that because its linked to our bank account but seems like if you report it and they would make it right in case of fraud or theft. I surely hope so! Scary for us to give out our hard earned dollars from our account openly to them.

I set up a separate bank account for my Paypal account. I keep a minimum amount of money in it and add to it (online transfer from another account) when I want to make a purchase. When you tie your bank account to your Paypal account they will deduct the amount you send from your bank account (if you don't have it available in your Paypal account) and use your credit card (also have to tie that into Paypal) as secondary funds. I've never had any issues and actually had them refund a purchase that wasn't what it was supposed to be. It was a long process but I did get my money back.

I quit using PP and ebay after Bill Gates bought them and fees went up 400%.

I wouldn't recommend linking it to a bank account. I had it linked to mine and around 2005, my paypal account got hacked and they drained $750 out of my bank account. They never did give me my money back and my bank (compass) wouldn't do anything about it either. I straight up got screwed. Do a google search on people getting scammed by paypal and decide for yourself if you want to give them straight access to your bank account. I use it now, but have a credit card linked to my paypal account and request my withdrawls via a check sent to my house. Takes a little longer but there is no way for them to get their grubby hands on my money again. If i ever get hacked again I can dispute the charges with the credit card company.

I wish more people would use dwolla. .25 Transaction fees cant be beat... And they aren't anti-gun!
