    Camper roof question?????

I bought a old camper to leave at the lease but the roof is not in great shape. It has a EPDM rubber roof. The white part of the roof is flaking off but the back rubber underneath is ok. My plan was to just get a 5 gallon pail of Elastomeric Roof Coating from lowes. But upon further research this is not approved for EPDM roofs. The ONLY products I can find that are specifically for EPDM roofs are very expensive. Any recomendations???? Has anyone tried putting the Elastomeric Roof Coating from lowes on there rubber camper roof?????

You could but one of those tarped awnings for around $200-$400 and kept the roof out of the weather and have it in the shade at the same time.

They make some roll on coating exclusively for RV rubber roof, but you will have to pick it up at a RV Parts place. Thornton RV can order it, if they don't have any. Camperland probably has it stock. I purchase mine from Lone Star RV it runs $59.00 a gallon. One gallon will do about a 25ft trailer unless the roof is in really bad shape.

Also the stuff at Lowes will generally starting peeling up within the year. There are not to many products made to adhere to rubber

Be very careful with the roll on type products as most always degrade over time and then you have layers of stuff to deal with in the future. Unless the roof itself is already showing signs of leaking I would just seal the "seems" of the roof on the sides and where the sections are connected together.

I use Eternabond roll roof tape. This stuff is amazing and will bond the seems with a totally water proof membrane. You can get it in different lengths and widths.

Here is a pic if this stuff after being applied. It is a little hard to work with in the heat...it wants to stick to EVERYTHING!!

Gaco Western makes silicone roof coatings and they are great for EPDM. You will want to prime it first. I am the salesman for Texas so let me know if I can help. (with information that is....not actual labor)

In the long run you would be better off with 4 pipe and a sheet metal cover

Some good advice above. I went the Flywise way myself.
