    Rut in Hondo ?

I am about 10-15 miles north of Hondo. When is it rut time?

Probably going to be some time in December...

The start of the rut is around Dec. 14th most years. It's always right around my Dads birthday. I track things very scientifically like that.

The ranch I work on is north of Hondo. By Thanksgiving the bucks are chasing everything that moves. Last week of November and first week of December is money.

You can almost set a clock that it'll start around December 10. We're only 20 miles away and it always starts right around that date.

My ranch is by D'Hanis and the 10th of Dec seems to when it peaks

I lived about 12 miles north of Hondo for 5 years and the rut always started a week before Thanksgiving. Fawns were hitting the ground in late May.

About 2 days into hunting season. Just wait you will see someone post they saw a buck chasing and breeding a doe.

We are 15 miles between Hondo and Bandera and have been hunting the family ranch for 35+ years. We are low fence and have way to many does so we have a real weak rut most o the time. Last year about Thanksgiving we had about as hard a rut as I have ever seen. Now with that being said the fawn crop seemed later this year, so that tells me a lot of the breeding happened after Thanksgiving. Sorry for being no real help, but this is what I have observed over the last 35+ years.

That's true my friend but magical things can happen during the rut , and I got three days of vacation left.
