    The $1 69' Olds 98 convertible...8/17 update

I've got a smile on my face. New brake cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes and turned drums makes the car stop like its new. Drove around the neighborhood, even squalled tires on a take off, the 455 engine runs pretty good.
Operated the convertible top for the 1st time today and it goes up and down like a champ. Will replace some burnt out bulbs tomorrow and replace 1 grease zert on the front end. The back windows need some help but that'll be a later project.
There's so much work still to be done but I'm hoping we're past all the pricey or difficult items.
Cruising with the top done was a cool thing and my sons smile made the work in the heat worth it.

Let's see some pics. I've always been partial to the 98. My first car was a 1976 Oldsmobile 98 Brogham. The 455 in that beast supprised a lot of those weak 1980s muscle cars.

I'm not capable of posting pics (to dumb), but there's some in my original posts.
I could text or email pics to any one willing to post pics to this thread.

Dropped ? Heck I'm not sure you could roll a tennis ball under it now.
It does have factory air shocks on the rear.

Nice. I like the original hub caps and white walls. Does it still have the points ignition? That is one thing I had to get rid of on the 2 1970's that I had. Someone makes a kit that replaces the points with a hall effect sensor that senses the lobes on the distributor shaft. It is very reliable and keeps the car looking stock.

Sill has points and condenser. The tires look like they were put on the car just before they garaged it, they are dry rotted so not street worthy, but they did do a pretty good peel out the other day.
