Anyone hunted opener before? Got any call strategy recommendations?

Me and keep will be in the Colorado wilderness Saturday morning 8/31.

This will be the first time I've hunted early season.

Buy ELKNUT manual. Read it and study it. Paul is good.
I hunt wallows/water first week or two. If place is active
I will wait them out. This takes patience. If you cant stay in a stand from sunup to sundown, dont try it. I also do a lot of stalking.
Typically not to much talking going on first week.
Get your map plan a strategy....and stalk...very slow. Walk like an Elk. Bino every 20 yards for 5 min. then move on. If you have not scouted area, its a crap shoot.
Also try cow talking...softly and sparingly. Ive also put a stand in
a tree on a major trail and waited them out. Elk do what they want
They are not a whitetail. Wish you success!! Never give up.
