His Polaris does not use a wet clutch. It has the same setup as a scooter or a snow mobile, so it can use whatever other oil and be ok.
      Ah. Appreciate the heads up.

It doesn't matter I have a can an renegade 800. Can am says to only use their oil. I just use mobile1 if it calls for a synthetic use synthetic but if not just about any 5w 30 will do

Be sure you put the filter in correctly, I learned the hard way.

Cross reference the oil filter-I've been using a Mazda RX7 filter on my Yamaha R6 for years 18 dollar difference on the same filter.

Well, I've used the Polaris kit since I bought the ATV new and was wondering if there was a cheaper route, then last night I started thinking - the Polaris oil and filters may be why my ATV runs like new even though it is 9 almost 10 years old. And, it has 400 hours on it. No major work, although my master cylinder froze up and rusted solid before I was told the brakes probably didn't work. I don't use the brakes very often.

btw - the manual does call for the 0W-40 oil.
