I use royal purple and change it every 10k . Had it tested last time and it was still within 95% of the fresh oil . I only drive the diesel when I'm towing . Otherwise it sets in the yard .

Nothing wrong with that oil at all. It's the same oil you would get a a quick lube joint. It's just not in a plastic bottle.

I used to religiously change every 3000-3500 miles but my Z71 now actually calculates oil life based on engine hours, RPM's, temperatures, etc. My mechanic assured me I could trust it. I'm running more like 5000 between changes letting it get to 25% life left.

And yeah, you got ripped off.

I have had my truck a year and have 44,000 miles on it. Yes, you read that right. I drove 44,000 miles in a year.

I have the oil changed at the dealership (I bought the service contract) so whatever ford oil they use is what it gets. My truck tells me when it needs an oil change, normally about every 7000 miles.

No issues, no problems, and the oil still looks clean.

If I buy Amsoil 5w20 25K mile oil in qts.. it cost me about $7.50 a qt. If I buy it in gallon its about $6 a qt.. If I buy it in a 55 gallon Drum its about $5 a qt.. its all about packaging. So no Barrell oil is not any different then qt. oil.

I would do it myself but the filter on the tundra is a PIA!
are you testing your oil to determine when oil changes are necessary? if so, who/what are you using to run the tests?
