How soon to shoot around a puppy?

your pup is pellet gun ready (bird feeder in backyard) eurasian collared doves can be called in if you can mimic their call, shoot the eurasian doves with pellet gun and have the pup retrieve them....i shoot them and trap them all the time, release the morning and white wings for they are protected until sep 1, i have a 5 yo yellow lab and she is amazing, i will not lose a bird one, i started her with pellet gun to get her used to watching me shoot and moved up to shotgun gradually, i had her in the field strong at 5 months old....to this day if i am in my backyard with my pellet gun, she is watching for birds.....

I used one of those Dogtra launcher and put the lightest load in it would shot it 12 - 15 feet then make a big deal of it and run with him after,never had any problems. Also buy some really small fire works and throw them around far from him/her and make a big deal when they go off
