    How much to charge ???

I have a customer that borrows my forklift to unload pallets off a 18 wheeler. Nothing major just landscape material and rocks. He comes and gets it and drives it just under a 1/2 mile each way. Usually only is gone 30 mins. No more than a hour. Since he is a customer I am not gonna stick it to him and he expects to pay for using it. How much per trip should I charge ?

How much fuel does it burn per hour or miles per gallon does a 10,000 lb forklift get ?

I wouldn't charge anything. Goodwill goes a long way. I might ask him to fill the tank every once in a while.

At least $50 and up to $100 would be my range. Make sure he has insurance to cover it while in his possession, you don't want anything coming back at you. (This ain't the good neighbor world we grew up in.)

If he insist on paying you, just let him buy lunch one day.

Just let him fuel it up now and then.

This is what I was thinking Tim. He's already put a good cut in side wall of tire. Sorry folks but nothings free in this world nowadays. He's an ok customer. I don't have 100% of his business plus he can and has been a jack wagon at times.

Is it a diesel or propane forklift?

I would try to stay neighborly with it, You may need something from him one day, And you did mention he is a customer, maybe fuel or a meal every now and then

After seeing your last post I recant, I would let him know about the tire, Just because you are in the tire business does not mean they are free to you, It would cost him so much more to have some one come out and unload it for him

$100/hr is what I charge my clients for forklift equipment services.
