Had one in my bedroom for 7 years and love it.Keep away from offbrand doit yourself cheap kits.My company has in stalled dozens of these systems through the year with no problems.I do have a service customer that bought a kit.It breaks down at least twice a year.

Probably would not work well.Moving on the road would probably cause freon leaks from the vibration.Check with your RV dealer, your trailer might be wired for a second rooftop unit.

What are the advantages of this type of system over a window unit? Can a consumer install themselves or do you need an HVAC tech to do the install?

I will be in the market for an a/c & heating unit for a small cabin very soon and am weighing all options.

If you were wanting to do a whole house, only window units now. Would this be a better way to go than the traditional AC?

You would just need one for each room....as of now I just offer them as additional ac to hot rooms with out having to upsize the whole house unit and ducts. Keep in mind you can run multiple indoor units to a single outdoor with most mini splits

Not a bad way to go. More efficient because you take out the factor of heat gain into the duct system. Plus you only turn in the zones you need. Cost is probably in line with a high efficiency system. These units can require more maintenance. I think lg is the best brand out there. I can tell you how many blower wheels I have cleaned on the Mitsubishi systems. Whatever its made of seems to turn it into an electrostatic filter and it gets dirty even when the filter is clean.

Mitsubishi is the best made unit with the exception of the blower wheel problem. The thing is you can gets parts for the mitsu the others good luck. Daiken is my personal favorite. Get a 18K unit the 12K maybe too small.

You need a mold filter. The reason it collects on the blower and not the filters is because it's not dirt its mold! Most quality units have this from the factory.
