I've got an elk hunt coming up next month, and I'm planning on making some of this stuff.

I have seen a few recipes for it, and it seems pretty straightforward. Any of you guys have any special recipes or tips while making it?

Never made it, always just bought it. But you are right, seems pretty straightforward. Would be good for an elk hunt. lightweight, portable and densely packed with calories and nutrients.
