    Customer/Technical support rant

I'm pretty angry right now, so bear with me....here's the story.

I've had the same e-mail address for well over 15 years, and the same address with just a different domain for about 5 years before that. It's a long story, but my folks had Clearwire internet service when I was living at home, and I had an address with them on that account. When I got older and moved out on my own, I just maintained that address, then when I started medic school, I got my own account so that I could carry the modem (modem is portable and wireless) with me to different fire stations to do my homework. When I created the new account, my e-mail address was supposed to be ported over to my account. I have maintained my account with them for several years, strictly to keep the same e-mail address, since their modem doesn't work at my house (the house is like a black hole for wireless signals). I've used the Clearwire modem maybe 5 times since I graduated medic school, just no need for it as I have Roadrunner a the house. Anyway, my folks cancelled their account this week, as they have found a better, faster alternative at their house. I thought nothing of it, since my address was supposed to be tied to my account. Apparently, I was wrong, and the e-mail address was tied to their account, and got deleted when they closed the account. So, I thought, okay, I'll just call Clearwire and have them reactive the address under my account.....nope, that address is deleted and can't be reactivated. So, now, my e-mail address that I use for all of my online transactions, to include my business contacts, is GONE, and I can't ever retrieve it. Lord knows how long it will take for me to get everything updated, from my bank accounts, utility providers, customers, forum accounts etc. This is JUST GREAT!

Sorry to hear. I use yahoo for my e-mail. and gmail for corporate stuff. apple for apple stuff and about a billion messages on my job. (ok I get about 300 + a day but a billion feels more like it.) Sure hope I never have to feel your pain. Got real scared when MS merged with yahoo.

my 2 cents is to use yahoo or gmail.

      WOW, that's rough man.

I had this happen one time a few years back. Now I have a main storage, wireless external hard drive, and a regular external hardrive backing up all of my contacts, numbers, etc, basically everything I have.

Kind of like getting something stolen. You think ah, it'll be ok. Get it something big stolen like a trailer. Now you cant get enough locks, cables, hitch locks etc.

Use it as a learning experience.

It's not so much that I lost any data. All my old emails are saved, and most of my individual contacts are in the address book. The problem is letting everyone know that i gage a new message, update on all my online accounts, changing business cards and contact info on internet site. I get bills via email from several companies, so remembering them all to update my info with them is going to be hard. Just a royal pain...oh and btw, changing anything on your Paypal account is ridiculous!

One of the reasons I changed my internet provider email to a gmail account a few months ago.
It doesn't help your situation, but I'll throw out advice for others who may be facing a similar situation. I changed mine to a gmail, but still had the old one active. Set up an auto-response for emails sent to the old stating my new email address. Changed my profile on as many accounts as I could think of, then waited until I got an email from the ones I forgot about. It took about 6 months, but I think I have everything changed over. My old email is still active, but anything sent to it gets auto-forwarded to my new email.

          Your situation sucks.
          I feel your pain.

Best advice I can give you is to go through your browsing history for the last couple of months to see the websites/accounts that you might have overlooked. That is if you haven't cleared your browser history.
