    Crabbing in Galveston

I've got 4 little girls who want to go crabbing in Galveston today before we hit the beach. Any of you guys know of a good spot to take them? Thanks in advance.

we use to go to the jetties across the bay by taking the ferry. Used a crab net and chicken parts. always caught lots, but we had to wade through koreans.

Bay side has been better for me. We head down to 8 mile road and go all the way to the bay. Watch out for the oyster shells. They can tear up your feet if you are barefooted. There are other places closer, we just like to go down there. Maybe find a spot that has the grass beds in and around the area. We did well in places like that as well.

You can also crab right in the shallow water at the beach- in the Gulf. Just take some jugs and tie them on a 4' cord to crab nets with chicken necks or whatever bait you use in the bay or off jetties. Check them every 5 minutes or so and just pull the nets up quick and hold them by the string above the water surface. Walk them to the beach and drop em in the ice box, then go back for more. My family caught hundreds that way when I was a kid.

We ended up going to the little jetty at the end of 8 mile road on the bayside. All of the girls got to catch a crab so mission accomplished! I untangled 147 lines in the process LOL but all had a good time and that's what it's about with the kiddos. Thank you for the suggestions guys!
