How are your survival skills ?

The thread about the TV show " Naked and Afraid" got me to thinking. How are every ones survival skills ?
Mine are very basic but would work in a pinch. Building things like shelter are easy for anyone who thinks about it hard enough, but finding enough food to sustain you without the aid of a bow or a rifle might be a challenge for even the most woods savey guys i know.
I have tried to start a fire using several different methods and im here to tell you ALL of the primitive methods i tried failed bigtime. And all of these attempts where made while i wasnt under any kind of stress like needing to boil water to have my first drink in days or stay warm or keep the jungle critters at bay.
Even the firestarters you can buy at any store are no gaurentee of success although some are better than others.
On a scale of 1 to 10 ill give myself an honest 5.5 at this point but i am working to improve these skills.
How would you rate your skills ?

Depends on the region. Central America.....I would be fat and jolly.

Upper Canadian Provinces.....I'm a very stressed, cold and potentially a dead man.

Coastal Coastal zones from 22 degrees latitude down to the Equator....once again....fat and happy!

I prefer life in the lower latitudes....survival odds are better and my knowledge of the flora is better understood to supplement enough to Nourish.

I'm up there with Rambo, John J.....

Not really. But I'd like to think that as long as I had my backpack with me I could at least maintain until the cavalry arrived. Of course that would depend on where I was dropped off.

I can survive anywhere with the basic survival tools:
            Guns and ammo
            Knives
            Matches
            Starter fluid
            Canned goods
            Money
            Extra clothes
And of course a truck and RV

Find a native tribe. Marry the fattest girl. Eat a roasted pig whenever I want.

I have it all figured out.

I would have an easier time at it than the majority of you all.
With my survival skills being at around .08 I figure I would be dead in 24 hours and not have to endure all the pain.

I'm on par with Chuck Noriss...meaning I don't have to worry about surviving, But Everything else around me does....

I would say 7, growing up in the swamps of Louisiana with my coon-a** family to give me their wisdom along with my time within the Marine Corps has helped a lot. Mostly survival is about putting away your predjudices like eating insects, plants. Water is fairly easy to come by unless you live in the desert.
