Rats?

I have a rat in my house that I cannot catch. He avoids all snap traps and glue traps. He is getting up on islands in the kitchen and counter tops. Any ideas? I would use poison but I don't want him to die in my wall or something. I remember a thread about a poison that would stop a coon in its tracks, it would take on bite or lick and take two steps and die. Would this work for a rat and does anyone remember the thread and formula I'm thinking of.
Please PM me if you want to as well, I just want this thing gone.

Put the traps along the walls, counter base boards, etc. The edges are their runways.

Gopher bait is the real deal. One bite of that, and they wont be walking very far. With a rat though, the trick is getting them to eat it. All they want to do is pack stuff around, and build nests! Fought one for about 2 weeks this summer in my shop. I finally suckered him in with some big red soda!

Watch what you put out if have little kids in the house. Wouldnt want them to get into it.

I have got them before with victor #1 long spring traps. Put pecan or some other nut on the v in the pan. They seem to not recognize it as a trap as they have only been exposed to the snap traps and sticky ones.

Will Golden malarin Fly bait work for rats? What about radiator fluid? I've heard it tastes sweet to them and kills them quickly.

Fly bait will kill anything that eats it and it will kill it quick... We put the pellets in a bowl and pour coca cola in it and they die very quickly(coons) ..... Never tried it on rats.

For mice we put our traps along walls and in corners (mentioned above ) and use peanut butter...

Anything that ingests this will say goodnight but be very careful using it...especially if you have kids around. Pretty dangerous stuff!
