    Zero turn not starting

    Preface: I'm not a mechanic

Got a hustler zero turn with Honda engine. Started right up Saturday and then shut off after 3 seconds of run time. I pulled the plugs because that is all I know to do and they were bad. Replaced them and it did the same thing. I took off the fuel filter and fuel is getting thru. I checked both plugs and they are firing and getting gas.

What am I missing? Could the choke be stuck and flooding it?

Check the oil make its on level ground. It's has an low level oil sensor. That could be a problem also it probably has a number of safety switches. There should be one on the seat. One one the brake also one on the blades. That is where I would start. Good luck.

Checked oil? I think most small engine have
A knock sensor, will shut down

Check the gas cap. If the vent is clogged up then it could be building up a vacuum and starving for fuel.

To check take off gas cap and let it idle. If it runs with cap off but dies with it on then I'd replace it. Wouldn't mow without the cap as you could get trash into the tank.

Exhaust is good. It has oil to the top line, maybe a touch too much but not enough to hurt. The sensors will not even let it come on, so not that. I just filled the second tank with fresh gas and stabil and it tried to start but I may have flooded it, so I'll let it sit a minute.

Will the too much oil trigger a sensor?

Gas is good. I took the plugs out and tried to start it and have gas coming out of the holes

Does it have a sensor on the seat? Some wont start unless they think your in the seat and will die when you get off....

If it is firing and has gas it should start. You have bigger issues than fuel or fire. It could be timing issue if you have both fuel and fire and still will not start.

What di it sound like when it died? Just quit or sputter?

The carb may have dirt stuck in the needle/seat which will cause flooding(gas coming out of the cylinder w the plug out). Remove and clean the carb out really well and see if that does it.
