Who else doesn't go nuts over white tail?

For some reason the past few years white tail just haven't done it for me. Maybe its all the breeder bucks that are stupid big, the fact that its just a money game, or maybe I'm just burned out. But I don't see a trophy in hunting whitetail deer anymore. Granted I still do because I like the meat but I just don't get all giddy like I used to. I would much rather shoot a big pig, bobcat, coyote, something of the nature that money and people haven't taken over control of for the most part. Maybe its just me, maybe its not.

Im still one of the crazy ones...but ive never hunted highfence so no need to worry about breeder bucks in free range country

Can't say I feel the same about white-tail.

However, I have never had the desire to shoot a mulie or pronghorn. I don't have a clue why, but I would not pay to shoot either one.

I went elk hunting last year.

That turned my whitetail give a **** meter way down to almost zero.

I try not to get caught up in the big antlers thing. Don't get me wrong, a nice big 10 point is awesome. But my heart still beats like crazy when a doe walks in and I'm trying to draw back on her. I don't think it'll ever get old for me. I don't have the luxury of a big lease with gigantic protein fed racks, so I'm happy with whatever I'm blessed with.

I hunt Kansas so my Whitetail addiction is still going strong!

I still feel the same...but the others said, I still hunt mostly free range and low fence, which to me helps you maintain the excitement. When I get pics of or see a 150" free ranger, it gets my heart pumping like crazy. I dont get the same feeling when Im hunting inside a high fence.

No breeder deer where I hunt and I don't read about them either. I just pass over anything I come across. Nothing against them...I just don't have any interest in it.

I'm passionate as ever about whitetail here....

                      ^^^^ this.

been an elk/mule deer hunter for over 20 years but it's still fun chasing whitetails with a bow.

There are some real nice deer on our family place that I don't get to shoot (we guide it out) but I guess between seeing then, and doing taxidermy for about a year and seeing dozens of deer from 200"-400" it's dead to me. I get what y'all are saying though.

I like hunting exotics now more than whitetail. They are a lot cheaper than whitetails, taste ten times better and most will have a lot more meat for the freezer.

                            This^^^

I'd love to shoot a big deer, but most of my enjoyment comes from being out there and the process after shooting a deer. Love venison and processing the meat.

Never seen a breeder buck so If I can stick it with my bow I am all over it.
