Put a letter in someone's mail box?

I'm trying to gain permission on some properties to hunt, but they are all gated where you can't drive up and knock on the door.

Is this okay to do?

I have always been told it was. I usualy leave mine either on the gate or find out the mailing address and mail it to the owner.

to solicite something it is yes. Actually mail them a letter and then you dont have to worry about it

cannot put it in the mailbox unless it has postage on it. I learned the hardway growing up working for dominos pizza in high school. Boss man gave us a box of flyers to go put on cars and doors and we thought it would be smart just to put them in the mailboxes. He received a call from the post master before we had gotten back and we had to go remove those flyers.

Unless it is a community mailbox cluster, then that too is illegal.
According to the sign that is posted by the Postmaster on ours.

I taped a couple letters to gates before. That works but, I usually mailed them to the address.
I found hand written letters work best
