    Acorns? I hate to ask....

How bad are they going to be this year in the hill country?

With all the recent rain I'm sure the trees are loaded but, hoping I'm wrong.

Doesn't appear to be a very large crop in NW Edwards County.

What I saw this weekend ,10 miles west of Goldthwaite......is not much. Not like last years crop.I am thinking we hard a hard late freeze ,when the oaks were putting on blooms. The recent rain will help the size of them, for sure!

Maybe it's not as bad as I heard then. Hopefully that is the case but, after last year I'm a little nervous.

That long drive was even longer after a bunch of skunks.

The trees in my yard here in Georgetown are absolutely loaded. These are not irrigated trees. My yard is 2 acres of all natural lanscape

Bring them on! I have lock ons in acorn flats waiting on the action.

I have a feeling it's going to be a great year for acorns...the deer will prolly be slipping and sliding all around the woods.

I haven't noticed too many on my oaks in the mountain home area of Kerr county.

i have yet to understand completely when and why acorns are prolific. the most reasonable explanation seems to me to be that when trees are most stressed, they make the biggest effort to reproduce. since almost every tree in a city environment is stressed from pollution, being planted to deep, herbicides, they make a good crop annually. since there have been fairly good rains across the hill country this spring, the acorn crops may be less than recent years. or not. i could be completely off base. i personally enjoy a good crop as the animals aren't stressed and survive a harsh winter better afterwards.
