    Smoker Temp ?

I am wanting to do a beer can chicken in my Electric smoker today and was wondering what temp should I set the smoker at. The whole chicken is about 6lbs. I was thinking 230 for 4-hours but not sure if you can cook a chicken that low and slow.

I do mine at at least 275. Low temp does no good when trying to make the beer steam unless its directly over the heat. On an offset the higher temp has better for me. Usually about 3-4 hours. Just check your temps in the breast and leg. I usually do at least 165 in the breast and about 175-180 in the leg/thigh

Edit: Didnt read electric smoker at first, 230-250 should be ok since its over direct heat

Read my edit. If its and upright electric where the chicken will over the direct heat 275 might be a little to hot. You'll burn his ***

275 is a good temp for everything. Chicken however works beat a bit hotter for only 2 hours. Chicken can dry out easily.

Ooops, Jaybo is right for that type cooker.

I am at a minimum of 275 as well....and up to 300.. I have found that 225ish and slow makes the skin kinda rubbery.

I also try to boil or heat the beer before I put it in so it's close to being up to temp and it doesn't take 2 hours to get it there.
