    Red River, NM Questions

Hubby and I are going to Red River next month. We are planning to take the 4-wheeler so we can go up in the mountains and fish. I have read every thread and every post about Red River on this forum and I have learned a LOT however, I do still have some questions. Would really appreciate any help from those of you who are in-the-know. Thanks.

Do we have to trailer the 4-wheeler to the Goose Lake trailhead or can we ride it from our rental cabin in town? (I've heard and read both).

How many acres is Goose Lake? (Bing searched and can't find this information).

Are inflatable boats with trolling motors allowed on Goose Lake and if so, would it be a good idea to take our KaBoat? (Again Bing searched and could not find this information).

Can we ride the 4-wheeler up to the lakes at Latir Peak? (I cannot find any information specifically about 4-wheelers, only that 4x4 is needed).

    Has Cabresto Lake been re-opened?

Feel free to add any comments or suggestions or give any advise to us first timers.

I think you will have to register your atv/utv as well. At least my parents did when they went to AngelFire. Not sure if it was just for that area or for all of NM...

      Have fun!

Yes, you are right. I read that we have to get an OHV Permit before we can ride on the trails. Thanks.

Cabresto Lake is open. We were there on Juy 1. You do have to trailer to the trail heads.
