What is your go to rig for lakes?

Not norther lakes. Lakes in the central part of the US. Bass fishing, walleye fishing?

I am trying to switch gears from being a trout fisherman on streams, to this lake thing. Lures are expensive, so I want to pull together a list of suggestions and go into the lure purchase wisely, versus randomly grabbing stuff off the BPS racks. My one buddy said his first rig he throws where ever he goes is a Carolina rigged rubber worm. That worked for me down south, so I wanted to check in with you guys. What are your "go to" rigs? (Pics are helpful...I am visual)

List what rigs you like to throw for:

    Bass
    Walleye

Drop shot, shaky head or whack and weightless fluke. These will catch fish.

White double blade H&H spinner bait.

Best lure for ponds at least

Carolina rigged fluke, watermelon red. I will vary the sinker weight from 1/8th oz to 1 oz depending on the depth and cover. Leader length is generally 18" or so. I also like to use braid for the main line. I have caught fish on this set up from Washington state all the way down to Falcon lake. Always carry a 1/2 oz chrome and black back or chrome and blue back rattletrap too.

I usually start with a Carolina or Texas rigged 6" worm. Purple or watermelon are my faves on south Texas lakes.

I've never fished any waters up north but my pre-spawn/spawn go to rig on Rayburn is a fluke in watermelon red, watermelon magic or green pumpkin, dipped tail and a split shot pinched on about 10" above the hook. Also have a wacky rig on hand at all times too...trick worm in same colors.

Post spawn I'll fish a white spinnerbait with a double willow blade, with a white fork tail trailer (dipped) and a square bill crank in shad and sexy shad.

Summer time (deep water fishing) I'll CR a Zoom Big Ol Monster or a Big Dead Ringer in junebug, plum or red bug.

I have beetle spin fished for 3 years on this annual fishing trip. All it has produced are bluegills.

In you're area you need to learn a couple of things to be successfull. Lakes up there have a lot of rocks. Shaky heads with a Zoom trick worm on 8-10lb line and a spinning reel is a must. Owner makes a nice shaky head hook, I like 1/4oz but all the weights have an application. Football head jigs with a matching color trailer are a must. 1/2oz Strike King football head jig in black and blue, peanut butter and jelly, summer craw with a matching Strike King Baby Rage Craw for a trailer. 15-20lb fluorocarbon line on a medium heavy to heavy action 7'+ rod. Throw it out and drag it back to the boat slowly, keep contact with the bottom. Excalibur Jerk Baits in shad colors.

Walleyes, I had my best luck trolling small crank baits and spoons.
