    Truck A/C Problems

I'm having issues with the A/C in my 2003 Chevy 2500. When I first start it the a/c blows hot, and it doesn't get cold until I start moving. Usually within 1/4 mile it will be chunking snowballs, and even when I stop and ideal after it's been running it is cold. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Brandon

    Several possibilities...

    Dirty condenser
bad clutch or worn clutch with a wide gap
possibly low enough on freon that your trucks AC won't engage until your RPMs get up..

Maybe be the fan clutch, or low freon.

What they said. I'd be more partial to the idea that it's just a tad low on juice or the compressor and/or clutch are wearing down. If it hasn't been serviced in a while, or ever, it helps sometimes to have a vac and charge done to it to remove any moisture in the system, or have it all flushed and replace the orfice tube and accumulator, as they can get clogged and delay operation. Oil can also accumulate at the bottom of the condenser which slows down operation, hence the thought on flushing.

I have the same problem on my 02. Checked Freon and its charged. Had somebody tell me it's the condenser fan or assembly.

Could be a vacuum leak. Try setting still and run the rpm's up to about 1200. See if that helps. I think it is a common problem in those years of production.

It could be a blend door not operating properly.

Thanks for all the responses. With so many possibilities I may have to just take it into the shop as much as I hate to.

Let us know when you find something out. It's always good to know the problem for future diagnosis.

Will do. It's been doing it for a while, but I'm not in a rush to get it fixed since it still blows cold after I get moving. I was hoping it was something I can check/fix myself.

I bet $ its your pressure cycle switch.
It sits on top of the silver accum bottle next to the firewall. Jiggle it, or just replace it.. 20$ fix

                            Worth a try I guess.
