Anyone else have a problem with USPS priority shipping?

I had bought a pistol on the classifieds here and was having problems with it. The seller was nice enough to send parts to exchange for it on standard Prioroty mail, and now USPS seems to have delivered it to the wrong house. It shows up on their sight as "Delivered" at 4:30pm, but no package and I was home at that time.
I called our local post office and talked to our postal carrier. She says that she remembers the package and she must of delivered to the wrong house, but would go by there and get it the next day. The next day comes and no package, but a note on my door from the carrier saying the people were not home and she would try the next day. So I have my fingers crossed for today.

I feel like I am getting jerked around by someone that has no idea what she did with it, and it looks bad on my end to the seller.
Anyone else have a problem like this? Did you get it resolved?

I've been fortunate and have had only good experiences with the USPS.

I thought I had this happened once but the mail man hid the packed under a shrub. Walked by it a few times thinking man someone either stole my package or they dropped it off at the wrong house.

Just recently I've started to have problems with them. My family sent me some stuff in the mail gift cards, checks ect... when 3 out of the 5 were opened and missing gift cards and one check! Any ways got in contact with all post office, they made some excuse for it and reimbursed me for the gift cards and check after a long ordeal. Then two weeks later bought a groupon shipped UPS then UPS transferred to USPS since thats how they save on shipping well USPS delivered an EMPTY BOX!

I'm sure thats not what you wanted to here but I do not trust the USPS! Never had the best of luck with them, I know a ton of people though that have had nothing but the best of luck. Guess it just depends on that office that day... just my .02... well more like .10 since it was so long

If you were getting jerked around you probably wouldn't have had a note left on your door giving you an update..... Just saying..

Maybe, or she could be trying to cover herself and she really doesn't know what she did with it.
I am hoping she did though.

              I will update this evening.

All I can say is I've shipped 1000's of packages with priority mail and have only had one lost and it was one that went overseas.

I've had issues including packages never arriving and receiving an empty box with a letter from the PO saying basically "sorry, the box came open". Both times the Post Office said too bad, shoulda insured it. No insurance, not our problem.

It is 8pm and I left a call back number for her at 4pm.
This time, nobox, no call, no letter.

I've had good luck with USPS and I ship lots of stuff. I sent a $2000 fish finder to Florida a while back and the tracking just stopped after a couple of days. I had not bought insurance either. It finally started tracking again and made it to the buyer a few days later but it sure was a pucker moment.

                        Yes many problems.

Our Firm has had to make decision not to use them b/c unreliabe.

                          Talked to her this morning.
She said she was told by her supervisor, to go by house it was deliverd to. If they say they do not have it, tell them the postal inspector will need to get involved. She will call me in the morning either way.
Now my good deal on a pistol does not seem like such a good deal now. I will probably end up paying 1/2 of the value of the parts (frame, etc) to the seller which is about $150.
