All Dove Hunters within 1 hour of Arlington...

I have been putting in quite a bit of time training my 16 month old lab since I got here as a young pup. She has shown a huge drive and I am anxious to work her in as many live hunting situations as possible. I am proposing that for anyone that dove hunts within an hour of Arlington I would like to possibly join you (I wont even bring a gun), I simply would like to work my dog in some live hunting situations before duck season arrives. If this interests you then send me a PM.

    Thanks,

Ryan, if you happen to be down Nacogdoches way during dove see season give me a call and you can come go with me. My new pup is younger than Abby was when I took her the first time but I will be taking her to see how she works. You're welcome to join me and I insist you bring a gun....

Thanks Russ I may just take you up on that offer. Bella has been lights out on bumpers and wings but I have yet to work her on many dead birds.

I'm using the Canny method...lol. Its a mixture of Waterdog and some other books such as 10 minute retriever. I've found that one book will explain a step better than the other. Hand casting is difficult for me since I have a small yard but we do work on the baseball technique and she responds pretty good. That is her only negative is that she isnt as steady as she is on other techniques. She does really well with triple retrieves as long as she sees them fall its the blinds that she has problems with sometimes.

We usually have enough go through here in the evening to shoot a 1/2 to a full box. You're welcome to bring the dog and you gun and see what you can do. God knows she wouldn'ty get any work if I were shooting as I avg 1.5 birds per box
