    Diesel programmer question

I am currently in the market for a programmer (not chip) for my 06 Dodge. I'm leaning towards the Bully Dog Triple Dog w/ the monitor but wanted to see if there are any comments why I shouldn't get this. I am not too worried about power gains, just looking for mileage increases. Any suggestions??

I believe Bullydog probably makes the best programmer for the 03-06 dodges, but lots of folks are really liking the smarty programmer for the dodges. I am getting one for my 00 dodge to stack with my TST Comp as soon I can, but the smarty for my truck is totally different for the one for yours. If you go to diesel truck resource one of the head engineers for bullydog will help you with just about any progam you may need. If he doesnt have it someone can email it to you. They have crazy larry, scarry larry, pedofile larry and some other WILD programs as well as some mild fuel friendly ones.

If you were lookin for power, etc. i would suggest the edge comp but the bullydog or smarty are prolly two of the best for fuel mileage. I have a superchip and it sucks down the diesel. All i have it for is the smoke it puts out. Im lookin to get an edge or bullydog for my 01 dodge.

Dwright, Bullly doesnt make a very high power box for your 01. I highly suggest the edge juice, the new quad adrenaline or a TST PM3/ TST Comp. I have the TST Comp which adds about 180 horses on level 9 and can role coal and run like a scalded dog. I dont know what you are wanting a box for but if it is power/speed then the best combo for your truck is the TST/smarty stack with the quad adrenaline making strides as it is brand new.

Well i have some friends that have a bullydog and it lays some nasty coal. THat is all im after. If i had the money i would stack the tst/smarty. But money dosent grow on trees. All that matters to me is the smoke, idc if i can go fast or have X amount of horses. I JUST WANT SOME NASTY SMOKE!! Thanks for the advice i will look into it.

My little bro had the edge in his Stroke and it burned up all 8 injectors and injector pump when he poured the coals to it. He took it to the Ford garage and they told him it was because he had a chip and to get a programmer next time.

              Dwright,
What year model dodges are your friends, that smoke? I would not think that the 65hp torque dog would make much smoke. I do know that a smarty by itself will smoke pretty good. The torque dog is about $600 unless you know a cheaper place than me and the smarty is $650. Before you buy I would look at each of these to make sure bullly dog is best for smoke. Heck my TST Comp can blackout an intersection and it runs about $700. Whatever you go with good luck and post pics of it when done I just dont want you to spend money and be disapointed as I was with my Edge EZ on my 98 goat.BTW this is my truck

Most (bullydog and smarty) are both more of a programmer as they plug into the data link that is inside the cab of your truck. The word "chip" comes from the oldschool boxes like the comp, and there are very few "under the hood boxes" out there for your 06. I really believe you will not be disapointed with either the bullydog or smarty on your ride, both have a lower setting for fuel milage and then higher settings for fun, or showing all the young punks with rice burners or diesels that they think are bad that they dont have crap

For the 08 6.7 liters you are more limited as they are still trying to figure them out, but I am almost certain edge has one out and I know bullydog has the powerpup out for it.

Thanks. You need some of the flip out towin mirrors. Make it look real good. But the smoke gets you enough looks.

No prob. The one thing I cant understand, dwright, is why are you so obsessed with smoke? Isn't it just unburned fuel?? It's expensive enough to burn not just waste. Oh well, I was young and crazy not too long ago. Back when I was in school there werent as many diesels on the road and glass packs and echo tips were all the rage. I had a 92 F-250 351 with 12" hollowed out glass packs and it would shatter windows. Now the quieter the better. I dont like people across town to know when I start my truck.

I have been researching for months on what type of programmer/chip to put in my 07 5.9L...every time I think I have found exactly what I want some new information pops up in front of me and either the one I picked is not powerful enough or it has blown someones engine up! This is a tough decision...plus they are expensive!
