Why can't people man up when they are wrong

Was heading back from dropping off my daughter and her friend at a jump place here and was leaving the parking lot in right lane to turn right. Guy in center lane in new camaro turned right into my wife's new suburban (bought 2 weeks ago).

We pulled over and he came out screaming and say it was my fault.

I first asked if he was ok and he yelled, "dont worry about me" and continued to rant.

He was in center lane to either go straight or turn left.

Cops could do anything as it was in private property and no witnesses.

He gave us blue forms to fill out.

I was calm about it and asked for the other drivers insurance before cops arrived. He said no.

I just told my son to "Always man up if you make a mistake".

Oh well, I need a beer.

That problem is rampant nowadays and I cant stand it. What is so hard or bad about admitting you made a mistake and accepting responsibility for it? Sorry for your bad luck.

Sorry to hear. Been there and had that happen. Had the ladies husband show up after she ran the stop sign and I turned into her and totaled her car and my truck, he proceeded to yell at me asking all kinds of stuff if I had ever graduated driving school yada yada and he claimed the person going straight had priority over the person turning left no matter who got there first. It took everything in me to hold myself back from that guy. Had witnesses on my side as well as the cops.

I worked with a guy a few years ago that got hit by a woman who was changing lanes and ran into him. He said they stopped and the woman didn't speak English but within 10 minutes she had a dozen family members at the scene. Well all of the men were trying to threaten him saying if he called the cops they'd kick his ***. Just so happened he did a pretty long stay in prison himself and the threats fell on deaf ears. He did threaten to kill the whole bunch one by one if they didn't get out of his personal space. Nice guy but definitely had a screw loose.

It's all about insurance rates going up.

Fear and pride--fear makes folks "control freaks" and pride keeps them from admitting they've done anything wrong.

I've always been told -- Don't admit fault if you are in an accident. That is for the police and insurance companies to determine.

That said, it doesn't excuse the other guy's behavior. He probably shouldn't be blaming you no matter who was at fault.

Determining "fault" is for insurance companies, not the police. LEOs investigate to determine if a criminal violation occurred...but usually not on parking lots as there are few traffic laws that apply.

It wouldn't do you any good to get his insurance . I got hit by a guy last week he rear ended me doing 70 I was turning . His insurance is trying to low ball me . I had to hire a lawyer . It sucks but I've lost 2 contracts worth 40k because it was my work truck and trailer he hit .

Good job keeping your cool. My girlfriend got rear ended in a drive thru and the guy started cussing her out. She is 4'11 and about 98lbs soaking wet. I got there pretty quickly as it was up the road from my house. I tried calming him down and warned him several times not to talk to a woman in the way he was. Especially when she is my gf. He shoved me and asked what I was going to do about it so I knocked his dumb a** out. Cops got there and he starts trying to press charges bc I hit him but I had witnesses saying he shoved me first and nothing happened to me. To this day though I still feel like I should've chilled out, walked away, and waited for the cops but eh whatcha gonna do lol.

Hope it works out for you. People suck sometimes. TBHers are awesome though and that's why I spend so much time nowadays on the green screen - to get away from the sucky people and surround myself with the good!
