Elk hunts

Hello folks,

I have been recently staioned in Colorado, and would like to know if anyone has experience with a elk outfitter? or yall DIY hunters? (I'm no trophy hunter I will be happy with a cow elk) I'm afraid to just wonder out with no experience hunting in Colorado. I have read the Co Parks /wild life info, so now I have a idea about how different units operate (not your average east texas hunting that im use to).
Any info you can give would be appreciated.

Here is what I did.

Move to colorado
decide you want it real bad
read about elk hunting
start going to local 3d shoots
learn to read a map
learn to use a gps and a backup gps and a compass and a backup compass
find over the counter areas and start hiking alot now
use the money you would pay a guide for good binos, pack and boots
know your limitations
you will see more elk if you can get off the trail and hike in the dark

I just couldn't bring myself to pay a guide to take me to a place I could walk to on my own for nothin.
