    BS more to the story. Duplicate name, someone using his social security number, more on his record, etc. Simple to clear up (but time consuming) if he really wants to. Truly sounds like a political statement at this point. Oh, call his congressional representative and they will clear it up in about 2 days!!!!!!!!!

      I think so too. Has to be a mistake, but what If it isn't?

        He has to appeal.... I agree there is something else missing from the story.

        For those of you saying to buy from a private party, that is against the law and could make his situation much worse....

          Confused cause I may not completely understand. Is it against the law for him to own a gun?

            Then it's a glitch that he needs to get worked on or way more to the story...trust me when I say NICS does not like to make mistakes. With the volume we are talking about in this thread, we are bound to have isolated issues from time to time.

            Point in case...I had a customer who got a gun & NICS gave him a proceed. He came in a month or two later to pick up another & was given a denied!!

            I immediatly asked them to transfer to a NICS examiner and gave them them the last transaction number that had the proceed...they put me on hold and said it was a bad on their end and apologized, but said they were not allowed to disclose what the bad was & gave me a NEW transaction #.

            ~~~~~~~~
            This leads me to wonder why the story even states the FBI denied him...NICS uses 3 different systems that in turn hook up to other multiples to cross reference a call in & not just a singular FBI data base.
            Now that I have had time to think about it, NICS does NOT give the FFL or the buyer any personal data as to why there is a delayed or a denied without a formal inquiry direct from the buyer...I have to assume he is just giving his thoughts at this point.
            A follow up on this would great when you find one...
