    A Few D.C. Pics

Was in the District over the 4th. Got to see the fireworks from the Iwo Memorial, toured the area in a Duck, completely geeked out in the Air & Space museum, got to see the Friday Evening Parade at 8th & I, and was painfully reminded why us 03 type grunts don't wear skivvies...

Caught this pic a moment after he took off his hat and crossed himself...

I Had The Honor Of Being A Guest Speaker For The Smithsonian About 5 Years Ago On The National Mall. I Was Lucky Enough That I Was Also There The Week Of Independence Day. Awesome Trip.

              Good Pictures

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE place to stop, regardless of politics. Its always a great reminder of those who came before me, and those who will continue to serve after I retire. Truly looking forward to my sons being old enough to understand the why besides the who and the what. Visited 1x per month the few times I was at schools in VA. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thank you so much for sharing those pictures, one more reason I always look back. Our freedom is not free, thanks to all our heroes, now & then.

Go during the summer and see the parade at the Barracks.

While I was there, a member of the Silent Drill Team botched the toss during the mirror inspection while the Assistant Commandant and his special guest, the CO for Joint Special Operations Command, were in attendance.

I would well imagine the Lance Coconut and the Corporal responsible for that were drilling well into the night...

                            Thanks for sharing.

I was stationed at Andrews in the 90's and enjoyed every minute, from the National Mall to fishing the Patomac River to the Inner Harbor at Baltimore.

I agree with Thor, the National Holocaust museum was a very moving experience.

I'm not bashing going out of the country for vacation, I've done it a few times and it's great to see things in other places. But I was thinking last night (as I watched a TV show) that there are so many places I want to see here in the US that I need to get on the ball. Los Angeles, San Diego, NYNY, DC, etc.....I need to take the time to make it happen. Thanks for posting 1369
