How do y'all feel about range finders?

The only one I ever had was a 1st gen Leupold...It was a piece of junk,ruined me,never own another one.

it is another tool to make a better kill shot. Use it you owe it to the animal you are harvesting.

The only draw back to a range finder is when you are telling the story of how you made the most difficult shot of your life that most people couldn't pull off you can't stretch the yardage if you ranged it before hand.

we have two, an old one that cant range past 100 yards anymore, but is still very accurate out to 40 yards, and a new Leupold that can reach out to 600 yards for the south texas lease. I don't actually range the animals, but I do range things around the area I am shooting to give me a reference point when an animal does step out. I will do anything I can to ensure that I have the best possible chance of an ethical harvest, especially when reaching out with the boom stick to 300 or 400 yards...

I know when I was guiding the confidence boost a known range gave some folks was noticeable. I also know that most folks aren't as hot at "guess that range" game as they think they are

I use climber stands on my leases, so I move around a lot, and a range finder helps me especially if I'm climbing a new tree and don't want to walk all over the place getting my distances to land marks. I can't imagine bowhunting without one now.

I always care one and don't think theres a reason not to besides you can do it instinctively.

I can hunt without it but there is just nothing wrong in my mind with have another advantage.
