Whats the Best Varmint gun and scope combo

What is the best rifle and scope combo for varmint hunting, yotes in particular. 22-250, 223 etc. Thanks

that depends on your shooting ability and comfort with the firearm .

I like the 22-250 for its down range capabilities and for the gun, i'd go with a Savage for the accutrigger. Ive been contemplating the bull barrel a lot, and have come to the conclusion that the middle level contour fits my wants best. Therefore, the model 10 predator is my next bolt gun. It's camo, has a 1.5 to 6lb trigger pull, medium contour barrel which weighs about 7.25lbs, and lighter than the model 12 with a 26" barrel at 8.5 lbs.

Scope is anything wiht good glass and 50mm objective for light gathering.

Caliber is all a matter of opinion. If it was mainly coyotes, I'm picking up a .220 swift or a 22-250. I have a .204 but I keep the furs. For a scope, the best you can afford. If you hunt at night, a 50mm with a heavy reticle is my suggestion.

looks like another vote for the model 10

shoots like a dream. My first Savage and after boresighting and a few sight in shots, I was shooting penny sized groups at a 100. The accu trigger is nice and crisp also. Not bad for a $650 gun.

            Model 10 Predator!
The 2008 model is just now hitting the shelves and has a 4 round detachable magazine.I should have mine when the bare gun hits the wholesalers. The combo gun is already out but it has a cheap Simmons 3x9 on top and I'm waiting on the gun without the scope.
I bought a Bushnell 3200 5.5-15x40 for this 22-250 model 10 predator and when it gets here I'll post up the results after I get the right load worked up for it.Very popular gun around the varmint forums and even the bench shooters!

              .22 Hornet is a bad "A" gun.

Rem Model 7 Predator in 22-250. Weighs less than 7lbs. Scope is personal preference but anything over 10x is a waist of money to me. AO's are a pain with a coyote gun. A good 2-10x is plenty. And the Stoney Point Pole Cat bipod is a must.

                      agreed....

...pole cat is great. I hunt mine all deer season.

I prefer heavier guns but then again I don't walk that far when shooting yotes and like the stability. I also prefer higher power scopes 6-20 range so I can zoom in & toss em from far away but not needed for hunting situations. Just what I like.

I went to the ranch yesterday and had a field day with some grackles and the les baer AR-15. Went through about 25-30 in short order....took them about 5 minutes to figure out what was going on. There was colony of +/-200-300 on one of the ponds & just shot out the front of the hunting truck from 50-250yds. That was an expensive shoot w/ those Black Hills 77's!!

I am getting a new Remington VTR .22-250 and topping it with a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 as my next gun. I had a CZ 550 Varmint Laminate .22-250 and it was an awesome shooter and I loved the set trigger feature, but the rifle itself was just too heavy for me.

Invest in some good ear plugs. That ported barrel is gonna be loud. I looked at those but knew better with what I would be doing with. Sweet rifle for sure.

If it were me, I'd get a medium barrel AR-15 in .204 Ruger...Can't beat it

as for the scope, either a 3-10x40 or 4-16x40+ from a quality manufacturer...

22-250 for four legged varmits. 30.06 for two legged varmits. LOL
