I have two Fourtrax bikes. Both 300 4X4's. Weight on each one is 547lbs.

Buddy of mine tried something similar to take his 4 wheeler on a job. Can't remember what 4 wheeler he had but he said the trailer didn't tow nearly as well. You have to remember to add the weight of your build material to your bike weight as well. If I remember correctly he found some type of stress cracks or bends somewhere on his build. Personally, if you have the skill to build the basket rack, you have the skill to build the tandem hauler in the truck bed.

Thanks for the advice everybody. Perow, we do need 2 individual rides so we can go our separate ways, hence both 4 wheelers. The roads aren't all that great, or I would drive my truck and let my buddy use his 4 wheeler. I just don't wanna tear something up on the truck while we're there and not be able to get home.

Looks like I'll be doing some sort of over-the-rail dual wheeler carrier in the back of the truck or pulling a second trailer...

I'm not concerned with the truck pulling the weight, it's a Cummins and it can handle the load fine. TT has brakes on it, so stopping won't be a problem either between that and the truck's brakes.

Anybody know what it costs to have airbags installed? I'm thinking they might be handy to have if we do a dual wheeler carrier in the bed in addition to the TT tongue weight...

No doubt the tandem hauler would be easier to build. It's just a box with rails on top for the tires, then incorporate some tie downs and load up...

Gotcha wasn't sure if you just needed them to haul in gear.

I agree with the tandem trailer or over the bed rack....but, if you made a hitch that had three contact points instead of just the center mount eq hitch that you normally see. One on each frame rail, and a third maybe on the bumper. But still think the other ways are better.

There was a store here in Paris that sold those diamond back bed covers and they are nice but high.
