Did the same thing on my first Safari. Chased Gemsbok with a bow for 8 days. Finally decided I'd rather kill one with a rifle than leave without one. Even then it took several blown attempts to finally get a bullet in one.

      I'm not sorry one bit.

Yes. My PH got called out to put his dog on a wounded Kudu Will's client shot. I tagged along because we could hunt where we wanted to until they where out.

And now to the last day.
The evening before the last day Tony ( The guy that runs The Wild Wildebeest Lodge) Made me an offer I couldn't refuse to shoot a Blue Wildebeest so we made plans to go to his neighbors place since it hasn't been hunted a while and try or luck on them. We started making our way around the 15k acre place and saw a abundance of animals. A bunch of them where Waterbuck (which was on my list until the Nyala came into the picture) and they tempted my to almost the breaking point of letting an arrow fly. We saw a bunch of Wildebeest and had a pretty good stalk blown by some bedded Waterbuck doe. We headed back to the lodge and had a brunch of pancakes, sausage and fried eggs.

We headed back in and discussed that after seeing several good Impalas and Blesbok that they would now be on the hit list as well. About 5 minutes in we saw a group of Blesbok and after closer observation we noticed that there was not a ram in the group. We moved along and after about another 5 min drive we ran into a group of 3 impala rams. One was nice enough to shoot so Juan told Cias to stop the truck. The ram's where walking down a trail paralleling the road. The big ram stopped behind some brush and never looked towards us. The wind was blowing pretty good from him to us so he never new we were there still in the back of the truck. The ram to a couple more steps into a opening and Juan said shoot him, I said what's the distance since he had my range finder around his neck. He said 42 yds and I settled the pin and let her rip. The arrow hit perfectly breaking the offside shoulder. He ran about 50byds crushing brush and bleeding everywhere. We immediately exited the truck and took up the trail. when we got to him he stood up all wobbly legged so I ran another arrow through him at 10 yds. and he expired. we drug him 20yds across to the road and took some pictures. It was a first for Juan to shoot an animal "Texas Style" out of the back of the truck. He measured 24 1/2".

I am definitely glad we decided to switch from a dove hunt to an African Safari at the last second. Impulse purchases are sometimes even better. I cannot thank Juan, Tony, Jorika and The Numzaan Safari Crew enough for a hunt of a lifetime. I always heard that once you hunt Africa you will be addicted. I had a blast and didn't realize how true that statement would become until I got home. We talked about going back in 5 years but I am trying to figure out a way to do it sooner, maybe I need to play the lottery or something. Anyways if you are on the fence about hunting RSA jump of and book. I know that there are tons of people and places to hunt with over there but, don't over look Numzaan Safaris. www.numzaan.com
