    Live from SW Colorado

The family and I just arrived in Colorado for weeks vacation. We are staying just North of Durango in a condo.

We plan to river raft, go to the ski resort for the slide/zip line/etc, and probably horse back ride in the mountains. Maybe a trip to Silverton for 4x4 tour and mine tour. (No train rides this time)

We got hailed on already coming thru Chama and the temp dropped to 54. It's about 70 now in Pagosa Springs.

    First stop....burgers and ice cream!

Love that part of Colorado! We went on the mine tour a couple years ago, it's cool.

I'll be headed to the Durango area in November.

Take a drive on up north of Silverton to Ouray; nice scenery!

Just left Wednesday. We also stayed north of Durango. Raft soon because water is falling daily. Our rafting trip was very slow. No white water. Have fun and be safe.

Allen there is a cool mine tour north of silverton. If you go out towards the alpine loop it will be a few miles north of town. Its worth it. The kids will enjoy it too.

Last time I went elk hunting was just SW of Silverton near Molas Lake. Saw a huge herd (~150) of elk with some good bulls, but we could not get them to come down below treeline within bow range. Watch for them.

We're here finally. Crappy service where we're staying but I'll try to post more pics later when we go into town.

Thanks for the tips on things to do.

Cam - glad to hear you thought the mine tour was fun. My wife really wanted to do this for the kids.

I love that part of the state. Here is a picture of me just north Durango and west of Purgatory. We were a bit off the main road and a bit off any road when I broke my knee cap.
