Question: For pool guys

I have an Intex above ground 12x24 foot pool. Salt water system with a sand filter. My problem is I cant get the chlorine generator to make chlorine. I never get a reading on my test strip and have to shock the pool all the time to control algae. All other readings including salt level are normal.the system goes through a 6 hr cycle every 24hrs and I have boosted it twice. What could be the problem?

Either the generator or the cell. Try doing an acid wash on the cell first. You can find a lot of good info on pool solutions web site.

The cell meaning the titanium electrode? or the copper electrode? I just replaced the titanium elec. it's new.

I had the same problem with my intex pool and salt water system my pool wAs just put in this year, after you boast your pool does it turn yellowish green like it has algae in it also every time you shock it you add stabilizer to it which makes hard on keeping clorine in the pool I can show you how I got mine crystal clear and where it will hold chlorine levels now
