My New Bow is a Virgin

So i havent had time to go shoot anything with my new Mathews Apex 7 and i go to Africa in a little over a month. Should i go shoot something before i go or just wait till i get there. I know this is stupid but i have really thought about it a bunch. I think it needs to shoot something so it is blood thirsty when it gets there.

I would most definately get some confidence in it before I took it across the world. A good pig hunt should fix you up for sure. Good luck when you go to Africa.

i never shoot at a game animal before layin the smackdown on rabbits, coyotes, whatever. its just a confidence thing. whether it be a rifle or a bow, i have to have 100 percent confidence in it or i dont use it. so i say go lay somethin out! now! lol! and as always get some ldps.

Wabbits are more of a challenge, they are easier to clean and will hone your shooting skills to a much higher level...

I agree i do need to shoot something. I just talked to my PH yesterday though bc he needed to know how many baboons i wanted to shoot so he could get me a permit. I guess when i get there i could just lay the smack down on a baboon to get up the confidence. I think a turkey would be good practice too.

From what I have seen baboons are a really mean nasty monkey and if I ever got the chance, I would shoot them until my arms were tired or I ran out of arrows or bullets...but that is just me

ill for sure post pics. If i can figure out how that is. Im not to good with technology. Im just ready to make some stuff bleed. I also just want to say. I used to be on archery talk adn i stopped geting on there because people on there were dumb. I like this site much better. People dont judge each other on here nearly as bad as on archery talk. peple from texas aare just nice like that i guess.

I think there would be nothing better than the first animal with a new bow to be a BIG ole Kudu or Wildebeest bull. I would wait, but would be shooting a bunch before I got to Africa.
                        Good luck on your safari.

What he said. If you get your bow sighted in here and have already killed animals w/ a bow, how much confidence do you need in your equipment? If you can hit a target where you want you should be able to hit an animal. I'd practice w/ the new bow and break her in on a big SA trophy.

Good luck on your trip and bring back lots of pix. I'm sure Landrover will have a ton of questions for you!!
