    TBH Tree Experts

I had this tree on my lot with little to no life left when we moved in. It finally fell. I just got through cutting it up to get it off my fence. I don't know what kind it is and need to so I can decide what to do with it.

Bark grain is larger than live oak. Wood color is a bit red. The few limbs sprouting are dark with the leaves you see below. Any ideas?

Looks like a cherry or a cherry laurel.

I'm leaning black cherry right now. If so, is this a barbequing lotto I've hit?

That's about as big as a black cherry gets in Texas. The wood looks a little
Light though. The bark and leaves look right.

It's main trunk is at least 18" in diameter. It's a big ol' tree.

Looks like a black cherry to me. Look at the base of the leaf where the stem of the leaf meets the leaf and see if there are small little nodes ( small bumps) on both sides if so then it is definitely a cherry.

There are bumps but only on the top side of the stem.

                        Invasive tree
                        Waxy leaves.

See it along the river in some places. All
                        Over town too.

Can't be. I know what a wax leaf lagustrum looks like and they don't typically get 40+ feet tall.

That's not ligustrum. There's no serration on a ligustrum leaf and the bark is smooth. Killing ligustrum is a huge part of my bread and butter.

Texas ash would be my guess.
