I joined the self employed in 92'. Love it. Lot of work, but a lot of reward also. I cannot imagine working for someone else anymore. Good luck

New machines may help me temporarily. I like to learn and advance. Ive been here 6yrs, the longest Ive ever worked at a place is about 7 1/2yrs. It is actually fun to me to hire into a shop and prove myself and get raises and make leadman etc. Unfortunately I have no where to advance here. I am "called" CNC Shop Supervisor but Im really more like a leadman. I program for the other guys but still run a machine. It was fun getting to this point but getting pretty stagnant now.....

I left a good paying secure job with a good stable company 3 + years ago to run my own remodeling business. I had been working part time doing jobs just for extra income and the business kept getting bigger. I kept asking the same questions you are asking now to friends and family. Nobody could give me the advice I needed to help me.

One day at the job I wrote down all the jobs I had lined up and realized I had 6 months worth of jobs already booked, I knew it was time to make the change.

My best advice is; you will know when it is time, things will fall in place for you.

I work less hours now so I can spend more time in the woods.
