Dang!! I just ordered one of these cameras. I used to have the Moultrie SMS camera and it was really unreliable . Battery life was about 2 weeks even with solar. They just can't seem to get this technology right!

Any new card should still receive an edge signal. If the card fits the camera it should work no matter what the network is at the location. iPhone 5s work out at the lease on EDGE.

I prefer the route Covert went with these over the data-plan web-based service Moultrie has. The technology is rock solid as well - millions of devices are out in the field using cellular gsm and SMS tech for well over a decade (mobile computers, vehicles, remote measurement and automation devices for the oil & gas industry - the list goes on and on.

The biggest problem is customer service @ the carrier level. The consumer stores can be hit or miss with these type of requests as 95% of what they deal with is flip phone, smart phone, uverse, etc. if you can get on a corporate account (FAN) from work as a personal liable plan, you will be better off. Get a little discount and get access to better support.

Tell them all you need is the SIM card because you already have a phone. You don't have to worry about the camera using your phone minutes so that is a non-issue.
This^^ is what I did last year to get mine running.

You have to go to an AT&T corporate store not the yahoos at the mall, best buy or a franchise. It will be the "main" store for the area. Mine is across the street from Bay Area Mall and they have a AT&T service shop right next door. The main store handles the go phone. Take the camera in with you.

I did the same thing last year. Just try a different store.

Was your signal good? You may need to go thru the setup again.

Did you watch the video on the covert website? You may have to call or web chat with ATT directly. I would advise against going to a 3rd party reseller to setup the account in future.

My additional account looks like this:

                    1. FamilyTalk Nation 700 with Rollover $9.99 (pre-discount)
                    2. Family Messaging Unlimited with Mobile to any Mobile Calling $0.00
                    3. International Long Distance - Blocked $0.00
                    4. Data Pay Per Use $0.00 ($2.00/MB - don't worry you won't use much if any if you are using SMS only).

                    Hope this helps.

Sorry to high jack but what if I don't have an att account? Can I get just a sim card when opening a new account or is there a pay by month sim through att. I tried asking a representative but they kept transferring me and did not understand what I was looking for?

They may be to far from the switch/office DSL has footage limits from the office to your home. With copper every foot counts.

u can add a line to your existing account but will have to sign a 2 yr contract 10$x24=240
or u can get a prepaid sim card with no contract for 20$ a month. only put money on it during oct, nov, dec and your looking at 120$ for 2 years. if u dont care about getting pics all year
