I think society sure acts like they believe it. But there are any times we want to tar and feather somebody without their due process. No matter the charges EVERYONE deserves a fair trial.

there is no justice in the system. You are guilty until proven innocent. You must have the money to prove yourself innocent. DA's prosecute charges with no evidence and work out plea deals. Just hope you never end up on the wrong side of the issue.

The sad deal is that often law enforcement will use the media. They can say whatever they want about an accused person even if they know its a lie without being held accountable. If the accused rebuts that...well anything he says can be used against him in a court of law.

I heard a lawyer say once that "Only an idiot can truly get a trial in front of a jury of his peers". I think that once an arrest is made, most people assume guilt. It's not right, but I think it's true.
