    Lake Fork???

"OneTonDodge" and I are planning a fishing trip on Fork for the 1st weekend in August. I've never been on this lake and I'm hoping some of you that fish this lake more often than not, can give me some pointers.
    Location? Baits?
I like to fish, but I'm ignorant when it comes to what fish are hitting on at different times of the year or what to thro at different times of the day. So all advice is welcome and appreciated.
I would personally rather catch fish all day regardless of their size and a chance at a biggun, rather than fish all day and catch 1 or 2 good ones.

I read the other posts from the past so we know and understand that we need to watch for stumps and stay in the lanes during travel.

    Thanks in advance!

Board tree Creek is a good hole.It's. near Axtons bass city.Caught alot of bass there on ten inch power worms.Weightless lizards for suspended fish worked well also.Been years since I've been there though.

I love tossing jigs around stumps but it will be a little late for that

The deal right now is going to be finding schools deep. Deep crankbaits, jigs and carolina rigs are what's producing. Look around the bridges, points close by and the mouth of creeks. This time of year you need to able to read electronics or you'll spend a lot of time not catching anything.

Saw a 10 year old kid catch a 11 pound bass in 50' of water,on a spinnerbait in a ski boat once....Middle of the boat lane no less,Tied to a buoy! I weighed it for him.

Try Indian Creek in the 14 to 20 ft water w a Carolina Rig w a Berkly blue flake lizard or worm.

I don't bass fish anymore but if I was going I would carolina rig a shiner on road beds or community humps. If your too good for live bait, a c rig french fry, power worm, tail kciker, drop shot, flutter spoon, or crankbait outta work too...

Sand bass will probably be schooling in the afternoons if you just wanna catch fish..

Will beating the bank and the shallows be a waste of time?
                    How about early morning?

I would look for schooling fish early and late if I was forced to bass fish. Spoons and crank baits should work. If you want to catch a lot of fish, dump some range cubes around a stump in 20-25 foot of water then drop some Danny King's stink bait down there. A lot of catfish limits being caught in a hurry right now and should continue till fall. Good luck!

Whacky riged worm.. They can't resist it! I never believed in this method until I tried it! After that I like flukes!

Yes. Early morning you may be able to a few on top water, but I still wouldn't beat the banks with those. 6-10 of water for those also

As far as this statement goes, on Fork, you take what she gives you. It's like no other lake you've ever fished before. I've fished it more than any other lake, and I can count with 2 fingers how many days I've caught fish "all day". I've had some excellent days (for Fork standards), but have also been blanked more times than I'd like to admit. However, I know I'm not the only one.

It's a huge misconception that there are tons of fish and big fish caught out of there everyday, and I don't want you to be expecting something you may not get. I would really look in getting a guide the first day your there. He can help you with all aspects of the lake.

Good luck, be safe, and cross their eyes!
