Ford Ranger... Can it pull it.

I am wondering if a ford ranger 4.0 v6 4x4 could safely pull a 19' Charger bass boat with a 200hp mercury. I'm not sure what the boats total weight is but I know it's heavy.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I'd say you would probably be ok. Just be careful stopping until you know how it handles. I pulled my 18' BassCat with my wife's 4runner with no problems.

      You should be fine.

Pulling it, maybe ok. But stopping..........better have trailer brakes and clean drawers on. Personally, I wouldn't even try it. Better safe than sorry.

I had a Mazda with the same motor and 4x4 that I pulled an 18' Stratos bass boat with a 150 Johnson all over Texas with. It handled it good. Just leave some braking room, which I always did anyways.

Check your owners manual for your tow rating, then get your trailer weighed and see if it falls within that rating. If it's above, your truck will still probably tow it, but it's not what I'd consider safe. Stick to the published ratings, and you should be fine.

Edit...your tow rating should be about 5800 lbs.

Your boat weighs 1500lbs. The motor weighs about 500. Trailer is probably about 1000. Add in another 200 for boat fuel, maybe 100 for gear... call your trailer weight about 3300 lbs. You should be just fine towing it.

Sure it will pull it...stopping might be a little tricky.

No problem if trailer has brakes

Absolutely no problem at all! You'll be well under your max gcwr. I towed a steel 2-horse slant bumper pull with a loaded tack up front and a 1,000 lb horse back from Montana with a '98 Ranger 3.0L v-6.

It'll probably be able to pull it, but as others have said, stopping it is another issue.

Also, it could get dicey pulling the boat out of the water on certain ramps if they're slick.

It'll pull... but you can about use your fuel gauge as a tachometer.

Obviously if it's not a dodge cummins with flipped out mirrors then it can't pull

Seriously I think you will be fine unless you plan on going up any mountains

                              pulling some tail....probably not.

But your safe with the bass boat.

I pulled a very heavy tri hull 18 ft boat with a 140 crystler on it all over the place with my Tacoma V-6

also pulled a 21' aluminum center console with a 140 hp 4 stroke from Houston to Freeport on several occasions. will do 70mph no problem, but mine did have 3:91 gears
