My vizsla is a great pet. We don't have any issues with shedding. She's an energetic dog full of personality. At 50lbs she's a big lapdog. She will get on your lap and go to sleep. Loves people.
There are times I wish she would chill out but she does relax and sleep at your feet. She gets in her bed most nights about 8:00...on her own. I fully expect her to star talking some day.

Even though he was a bigger dog, his shedding wasnt bad. I agree that it was a little more during summer but I attributed that to his weight. He wasnt fat. He was the biggest male of the litter so a medium heavy weim I think would be great. I know hunting isnt a key factor, BUT he was an awesome retriever!!!
From what I have been researching, the Vizsla will shed the least.

They are great dogs! Lots of personality and want to be with you all the time. Lots if energy though for sure mine did settle down a little after the puppy phase, so if you go that route be patient it will pass. Trigger has been excellent with out 5 month old, Anabelle. Any questions and you can pm me.

We own a gsp and wiem and I've been around a few vizzla's.
gsp is easily my favorite, but I'm partial because she is the best hunting dog, most athletic, most versatile and a great family friendly dog. Loves everything outdoors, very good with people and other dogs. Does shed and needs to be exercised on a regular basis.
The wiem is a great dog as well, athletic but less out-going, very personal - almost human like, would go crazy if he had to stay outdoors, truly loves his masters, hardly sheds. High maintenance - he needs special food and supplements(sensitive stomach), goes to the vet often, can be a brat at times. Requires less excercize then gsp.
The vizzla's I have known are very athletic and great house/family pets. They seem to be a little harder to train then the gsp.
