    Camper trailer issue

Myself and kamojunky have been working on a 5th wheel trailer and we are having quite a bit of issues. We are having a hard time getting the slide out to come out. We have replaced all of the blown fuses in the fuse panel and traced all of the wires connecting to it and the pump and we cannot find any shorts. Still when we try to bring the slide out it only moves a few inches and them blows the fuse again. Anybody have any fresh ideas?

Have you checked the rollers and tracks? My FIL had a pen in the track on his and it would do the same thing.

Grease/oil the slide or chain mechanism and try "helping" the slide out along.

Most have a manual crank. Use the same tool that the stabilizer jacks use.

Something is binding it causing the motor to pull too many amps.

I agree, motor trying to work and pulling too many amps is most likely issue. Looks under bed/couch or whatever is hiding the pull-out mechanism and visually check the track and everything and make sure not a physical barrier.

There are a couple of RV experts on the GS that make their living selling and repairing, maybe they will have a solution.

Motor is probably bad "motor windings" use a volt meter with continuity function if it beeps its good if it gives you a high number replace it.

Does it have a manual mechanism?

I know it sounds silly but the 5th wheel we bought had 2 short pieces of pipe on top of the slide out. keeps it from sliding out accidentally.

Ah, yes! Some of them have bars or latches that keep them from coming out during transport.

Look on the inside of the tailer on the sides of the slide out.

it doesn't have the tow bars and I cannot find a manual crank for the slide out. It does have a spot on the hydraulic motor were you can pump it to retract if it is needed. But I cannot find a spot were it cranks to come out.

On some models the manual crank is on the underside of the trailer. It is probably a hex shaped looking bolt attached to a long screw.

You should be able to switch it to pump it out.

Make sure trailer is level. I had an issue with mine once and it was because it wasn't level but it just wouldn't work but not throw fuses. PM TBHer CareyBirdwell on here. He is in the RV business and extremely knowledgable.
